4 Days Tour of Israel

Day 1 – Northward by the Coastline
Day 2 – Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights
Day 3 – Along the Jordan River to the Dead Sea and Masada
Day 4 – Jerusalem, a holy city for 3 religions

 

Day 1 – Northward along the Mediterranean Coastline

Check out from Tel Aviv and drive to Caesarea

Visit the impressive ruins of one of the largest Roman ports in the ancient world and an important city for many centuries to come

Drive to Haifa, up Mount Carmels top to the panoramic lookout over Haifa and its bay, Galilee and the magnificent Baha'i Gardens

Drive to Acre (Akko) and walk through the streets and alleys of the Crusaders world (underground) and the Ottomans (Turks) and the Arabic Old City (above ground)

Drive westward across Galilee to Tiberias.

Overnight in a Tiberias (or nearby) hotel.

 

Day 2 – Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights

Drive alongside the Sea of Galilee and make our first stop at Mount of the Beatitudes, a Catholic church that commemorates the famous "Sermon on the Mount" (Mat. 5-6).

Downhill, we drive shortly to Tabgha and visit two churches there, one commemorates the "Miracle of the Multiplication of the Fishes and Loafs" and the other one is Peter's Primacy also known as Menza (table) Christi.

After lunch break (St. Peter fish and some Pita bread…) we visit Capernaum, the ruins of Kfar Nahum, home base of Jesus by the lake, presenting the reconstructed remains of the largest ancient synagogue in the Middle East and Peter's House.

Cross the Jordan River and drive up to the Golan Heights to Mount Bental (a non-active volcano) lookout over the "Valley of Tears" and southern Syria

Drive down the slopes of the Golan Heights on a winding breathtaking road to "the 3 countries (Israel, Syria and Jordan) meeting point", stop at the Peace Vista, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Israel and then further down to the Jordan Valley

Drive to Tiberias for overnight

 

Day 3 – Along the Jordan River to Dead Sea & Masada

Drive southward by the Jordan River's bank (the border with Jordan), through Jordan valley, bypassing Jericho on our way to the Dead Sea

Time permitting - a short hike through the famous Ein-Gedi oasis, dipping in the waterfall pools, hopefully meet some protected wildlife  

Drive shortly to Masada – mount up with a cable car to the top and visit the famous cliff\fortress

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at the Ein Gedi's hot springs for the famous Dead Sea experience (mud, float)  

Drive to Jerusalem for overnight

 

Day 4 – Jerusalem, a holy city for 3 religions

Start with Mount Scopus lookout over the Judea desert

Continue to Mount of Olives for a panoramic view over Temple Mount and the Old City of Jerusalem

Drive down to Gethsemane and Judgment Valley

Walk into the Old City through Jaffa Gate to the Christian Quarter

Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher

Walk through the Via Dolorosa (partly) and local marketplace (Shook)

Continue walking to the Wailing (Western) Wall

Walk up from the Wall to the Jewish Quarter and then back to Jaffa Gate, to meet our transportation, back to the hotel

 

 

 

For a Non-Christian orientated tour:

 

Day 1 – overnight in Jezreel Valley in a Kibbutz countryside lodge

Day 2 – drive to Sepphoris (Tzippori) and explore the amazing remains and mosaic floors of that ancient capital of Galilee

Drive to and visit Capernaum (as above)

Drive to Golan Heights and tour it (as above)

Overnight in Tiberias or nearby the lake
